I'm so excited to FINALLY have a desk that's mine all mine! It still smells like spray paint, you can see the spray marks in a few spots and I still need to find a few drawer pulls for it but I don't care!! :)
I've been working on re-finishing another desk, one that my father made years ago for my grandfather, but it's a big project and I want to make sure that I do it right. It's so gorgeous and has so much sentimental value that I really just want to take my time finishing it. So in the meantime I am more than happy to have this to work at.
Speaking of drawer pulls does anyone know a good, thrifty place to buy drawer pulls for desks? Everywhere I checked carries 3" pulls for cabinets, etc and I need 6-2 1/2" ones.

it looks awesome!
great transformation. i'm working on two chairs right now - one needs more work than the other - i hope to finish them both this week :o)
My suggestion for the draw pulls is to put two knobs on each drawer. You could get white ceramic ones and custom paint something whimsical on each knob, if you wanted to go the creative route.
Or you could fill in the holes already there with wood filler and paint over them, and the re-drill one hole in the center of the drawer for a knob pull.
great make overs!Right up my alley! Jen R
Your desk looks beautiful!
I would just buy any knob you like and re-drill the holes...if you don't want to fill the holes, then buy bigger ones so the holes won't show.
Those half-moon pulls would definitely cover up those holes, but you don't have to go that big...it's just an idea.
I found you on the BD site, I am going to be writing for them, too...just so nervous about writing my first blog for them!
Very nice to meet you,
Bella
PS: My dh and his family are Orthodox, too.
